Family-friendly Discovery Weekends invite families with children ages 3 and up to explore the Arboretum’s gardens and grounds during autumn. Activities center around the Stackhouse Education Center.

Free guided tours of the Arboretum are offered most Saturdays at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm, open to all ages. Visitors can explore the grounds with knowledgeable guides.

Adults can create a fall floral wreath using seasonal blooms and provided tools at this 2-hour workshop. Member and non-member pricing is listed, and all experience levels are welcome.

Theis a free hands-on learning experience that encourages skill-building and creativity in children ages 5-12. Skills such as following step-by-step instructions, working with hand tools like hammers and screwdrivers, and painting. The Workshops are hosted by store associates who also serve as Workshop Captains. Children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian to assist them with completing the workshop kit. The time for completing the kits varies but usually takes 30 minutes. Each child can bring home a newly constructed project, a Kids Workshops apron, an achievement pin, and a certificate. Féminin Pluriel is a solo exhibition by Québec-based artist Pascale Bouchard, showcasing her unique encaustic artworks at Reeves-Reed Arboretum. Open to all ages, the exhibit features layered, luminous pieces created with pigmented beeswax and heat.

On the first Friday of every month, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM*, the space transforms into a sensory-friendly environment designed to provide a welcoming and comfortable experience for all guests. During these dedicated hours, visitors are invited to explore the space with reduced sensory stimulation, creating a calmer and more accessible atmosphere for individuals and families who may benefit from a quieter setting. This sensory-friendly experience includes reduced lighting effects in select exhibits, with consistent, neutral lighting maintained throughout the space to support visual comfort and ease of movement. Crowd levels are intentionally lower during these hours to help minimize overstimulation and allow guests to engage with exhibits at their own pace. In addition, sound effects in certain exhibits are reduced, and overall ambient noise is kept to a minimum to promote auditory comfort. These thoughtful accommodations are intended to foster inclusivity and accessibility while preserving an engaging and enriching experience for all visitors. Clear signage, trained staff, and advanced communication further support guests in planning visits confidently and enjoying the experience comfortably and independently at ease. *In months when the first Friday falls on a holiday or coincides with special programming, an alternate date will be provided and communicated in advance.
