On the first Friday of every month, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM*, the space transforms into a sensory-friendly environment designed to provide a welcoming and comfortable experience for all guests. During these dedicated hours, visitors are invited to explore the space with reduced sensory stimulation, creating a calmer and more accessible atmosphere for individuals and families who may benefit from a quieter setting. This sensory-friendly experience includes reduced lighting effects in select exhibits, with consistent, neutral lighting maintained throughout the space to support visual comfort and ease of movement. Crowd levels are intentionally lower during these hours to help minimize overstimulation and allow guests to engage with exhibits at their own pace. In addition, sound effects in certain exhibits are reduced, and overall ambient noise is kept to a minimum to promote auditory comfort. These thoughtful accommodations are intended to foster inclusivity and accessibility while preserving an engaging and enriching experience for all visitors. Clear signage, trained staff, and advanced communication further support guests in planning visits confidently and enjoying the experience comfortably and independently at ease. *In months when the first Friday falls on a holiday or coincides with special programming, an alternate date will be provided and communicated in advance.

Registration required to attend. Spring session runs May 4 - June 1. (No class May 25) For baby storytime, please register for either the Monday series OR the Friday series, not both. PLEASE NOTE: Millburn/Short Hills residents will be able to register with their Millburn library card when registration opens at 11AM on Monday, 4/13, three weeks before the first class. For Millburn residents, please use your 14-digit card number found on the back of your library card to register. The 4-digit pin should be the last 4 digits of the phone number connected to your account. Please contact the circulation desk at 973-376-1006 ext. 190 if you need to reset your pin number. Registration will open to non-Millburn residents one week prior the first class. The waitlist will be available if registration is full. Thank you! In-person event for children ages up to 24 months with a caregiver. Our littlest ones are welcomed to join us for storytime! Join our team of librarians for our spring session of storytime classes, filled with short colorful books, fun familiar songs, simple finger plays, bouncing and lots of movement! Due to demand, class size is limited and registration is required to attend storytimes! When you register, it is for the 4-week session so we appreciate attending as many classes as you can. If you miss a class, please let us know (call or email). Register each child who will be attending (adults accompanying the children do not have to register). Storytime will take place in the Children's Room when the auditorium is not available. The program runs about a half-hour.

Join the Children's librarian team for our spring preschool-aged storytime session! We will have funny stories, silly songs, lots of movement and fingerplays, plus a short craft at the end. Registering for the entire 5-week session required; we appreciate trying to attend as many as you can! Register each child who will be attending (adults accompanying the children do not need to register). The program will take place in the children's room. Program runs about 45 minutes.
